Serena Williams pulls back from Miami Open with knee damage


Serena Williams pulled back from the WTA and ATP Masters Miami Open on Saturday with left knee damage.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion's withdrawal comes multi day after she beat Sweden's Rebecca Peterson in three sets to achieve the third round.

"I am baffled to pull back from the Miami Open because of left knee damage," said Williams, an eight-time victor in Miami who has finished only seven matches this year.
